Someone once said, “Each one of us must live the life God gives him; it cannot be shirked.” And knowing who our beloved husband, father, uncle and friend, Jeff was, one would say that his life was one filled with laughter, one filled with joy and a lot of love in his heart.
Indeed, the hallmark of Jeff’s life was to always make one feel better with the armory of funny anecdotes, short stories and soliloquies Jeff said to make us laugh. Everyone would agree that his comedy and his voice perhaps was his strongest suit.
Most people would remember him – especially in those who knew him in Belize, where he was born and raised – for his remarkable artistic ability. He was one of his country’s top carpenters and singer. His singing prowess continued to be showcased well until 1987, when he moved to Chicago, Illinois. He was truly a legendary musician and his beautiful melodies would uplift you when you’re feeling down, embrace you with a lot of love when you felt loveless, and put a smile on your face when the day seems dark and dreary.
Born on October 3, 1952 to Joseph McDougall (1911-1987) and Hazel Lauren Christie (1920-1992), Jeff was always the center of attention because of his unmatched singing and performing abilities, his cheerful and always upbeat disposition, and his mischievous ability to make one smile even when they least felt like it.
For sure, the memories will linger on because each of his children, grandchildren, his remaining siblings, nieces, nephews and friends each can truly say that Jeff’s 59 years of living has really changed their lives for the better. His compassion and love remains ubiquitous even though his physical body is no longer here, his warm, cheerful, and loving spirit lingers in each and every one who loves him and misses him dearly.
