Annabelle was born on July 16, 1950 in Chilliwack, BC to Theodore and Emma Walker. She grew up in Chilliwack and worked at the Sardis Post Office as a young lady. She left that job to get married and raise her two daughters. After a few years in Kelowna, Annabelle returned to Chilliwack and to the Sardis Post office where she enjoyed a long career from which she retired in 2010 as the Cultus Lake Postmaster. Nobody knew her community as well as Annabelle - she could tell you anyone’s home address, how long they lived there, as well as the legacy of families that preceded them.
Annabelle was well known for her jewelry making. She loved to “play” with her craft supplies and humbly adorned so many people with button bracelets and one of a kind polymer clay earrings. Whether she was working in her craft room in Chilliwack or on her lanai in Arizona, she was happiest creating little works of art that she loved to gift to her friends and family.
If Annabelle wasn’t sculpting jewelry, you could find her making cards or decoupaging any boring surface she could make pretty! She loved to decorate her home and fill it with baking for her people. She left a beautiful library of scrapbooks for her family to enjoy and keep memories alive for generations. Annabelle didn’t like to be “bored” and was the first one to pull out the dice or a deck of cards to engage in an evening of laughter and games. She loved to read but only if she could flip to the back of the book and read the last chapter to make sure everything turned out okay before she invested in the characters.
More than anything, Annabelle loved her family. Her relatives “across the line” meant the world to her and she spoke so fondly of her childhood memories with her American cousins. Her ‘Arizona Family’ and collection of “adopted” kids were as loved and treasured as her own.
Annabelle is predeceased by her father Theodore (Ted) Walker, her brother Morley Walker, and step daughter Kristy Knutson.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Bolwerk; her mother Emma Walker; brother, Warren Walker (Sheila); sister in law Helen Walker; her children, Shelley Goerzen (Shelby), Stacey Sapinsky Cusworth (Grant), Rhonda Bradford (Myles), Matthew Bolwerk (Samantha), and Chantal Smith (Blake); her precious grandchildren Alexis (Cam), Kaitlyn, Ellie, Joey, Lucy, Sawyer, Hudson, Kian, Sadie, Rosalie, Hunter and Brandt and great grandchildren Carter and Lillian.
If you knew Annabelle, you knew she was a ray of sunshine. She loved colour and would often say “Why do people wear black when they are sad or when the weather is gloomy? That’s when we should wear bright, happy clothes!” So please put on your most colourful attire and join her family for a celebration of life on August 23, 2025 from 1pm to 4pm at Atchelitz Farmers Institute Hall 6542 Lickman Road, Chilliwack BC.
