On November 23rd, 2025, we lost a very precious soul, our mother; Barbara Brown. She unfortunately fell and fractured her femur on Sunday. Upon transferring to the ER stretcher, she went unconscious and soon after passed away peacefully. Mom was predeceased by the love of her life, Reg Brown, in 2017, and by her little sister, Noree Davis Shiel a year and a half later
Barbara was born in Lancaster, England, on November 14th, 1929, where she studied to be a teacher. She later journeyed to Canada for new teaching opportunities, and it was there that she met our father, Reg Brown, and never looked back. She will be remembered as a loving and generous mother, known for her style, compassion, humor, and genuine interest in everyone she met. She loved life and lived it to the fullest.
She deeply appreciated every care worker who tended to her, and we extend a heartfelt thank you to all who cared for her, including Willie Nelson, David (LPN), Dr. Dressler - who made extra house calls and Jane, as well as her Cheam friends, table mates, book club friends , and Agassiz United Church family. We also extend our gratitude to the paramedics and Chilliwack ER staff, including ER Dr. Huxley whose name I hopefully got right and Jenny Boy, for their compassion and care. Our hearts are broken, but we find comfort in knowing that Mom is now with Dad and is no longer in pain.
In remembrance of Barbara, if you wish, please consider contributing to your favourite charity or planting a flower in her honor in your garden. She loved gardening.
She leaves behind her children, Noreen (Blaine) and Peter (Barbara), along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and beloved furry friends
