Born in 1939, in London, England, Barry was always ready with a story to tell about his early life during the war, his service in the R.A.F., or his accomplishments throughout his long career as a heavy-duty mechanic with BC Transit, which began with his move to Canada in 1974.
At home, Barry was always tinkering with his beloved Rover cars, enjoying time with family and friends or strolling with his cherished dogs, Fiona and Darcy. Barry led his life with love, a clever sense of humour, a curiosity for putting together handmade creations big and small, and a true tender-heartedness and generosity toward animals, which meant a home always filled with countless rescue dogs and cats.
Barry is survived by his wife, Shirley, daughter Helen (Karl), son Phillip (Kathy), grandchildren Rachel (Tyler), Scott, Samantha (Gurpreet), Zoë (Rory), and great-grandchildren Brynlee and Colton. He is predeceased by his parents, Eileen and Arthur, and granddaughter Ana Rose.
Barry’s family thanks the staff of Chilliwack General Hospital, particularly in the ICU, for their thoughtful, kind care of Barry and his family during his last days.
A celebration of life for Barry will be held on Sunday, May 18. Please click the invitation below for details and to RSVP:
