It is with a heavy heart that I post this memory of Brian...
We began sharing our home with Brian Oct 3, 1997.  Brian quickly immersed himself into family life and began his journey of healthier eating habits.  He was considerably overweight and had been for many years which caused some health issues.  With support, Brian managed to lose over 100 pounds and felt much better.  Brian travelled to Alaska with his Father on a Cruise, and in 2001 we took him to Mexico for a vacation which he really enjoyed.  Brian travelled with us to Disneyland twice and several other Family Holidays.  Brian was a loving man who was always happy to welcome friends to his home, share a hug with whoever met him and was fiercely protective of those he loved.
In 2015 Brian's best friend Mark  moved into the home in 2015 and Brian was thrilled to have his best Friend sharing his home life and Family vacations.  Unfortunately, Brian became ill and the Family life as we knew it changed dramatically as we grieved his passing.  Brian will be best remembered by his laughter, the love he shared with Family and Friends and in particular those in his household.  I will forever miss Brian and all the memories we shared over the years.

There's so much to say about Uncle Brian...there isn't enough time or words to describe the impact he had on me and the world around us. He was so silly, and took such joy in making jokes and getting people to laugh. His energy could be infectious and he was almost always happy and smiling.

I remember when I was really young, like 7 or 8, spending time with Uncle Brian, sitting on our porch swing, telling stories. He asked me if I knew how special I was. As a kid, this didn't have the impact it does now, but I don't think we ever really know how special we are. He proceeded to tell me that I was special because I got Grandma's soul when she passed. The day I was born, was the day my Mom and Uncles and us kids lost our grandma. Such a bittersweet day, but one that struck hard with Uncle Brian. He believed and always told me that I had a piece of grandma in my heart because we shared that day. I think as a kid, it confused me and didn't really impact me, but as I grew up, the memory became more special and more poignant. He gave me a connection to my grandma that I never would have thought of before. Gave me a positive to take from such a tragic loss, one I carry to this day.

I've been told I have lots of my grandma's traits and mannerisms...so maybe he was really on to something! 

I love you Uncle Brian. Thank you for the love and light you brought to this world, our lives a a little duller without you. Say hi to Grandma and Grandpa for me.

My very first impression of Brian will remain forever in my heart.  The first time I met any of the Nordal family was back in 1979 when Alfred and I went to Selkirk. Brian came and opened the car door for me, took my hand to help me out of the car and then gave me the biggest and best hug ever. His first words to me were "hi, I'm Brian, and I love you and I'm gonna marry you".  I then told him as sweet as that was, I was married to his brother. His response was , I don't care, I'm gonna marry you anyway.
It was a wonderful meeting with this amazing young man that was taken from us far too early, but the kids and I know that he is in a much better place now .Rest in peace Brian, we love you.

 As we reflect on our memories of Brian, we can’t help but smile. Brian was the same age as one of our three daughters.  When they were babies our family often visited their family in Sellkirk. It was so cute to see the little ones play together. Brian was always happy to share his toys and the smiles were plentiful! 
 When Aunty Dilly phoned to tell us to come and get cucumbers from the 10 foot high pile in their yard,  we gladly came to load our station wagon.  Brian always wanted to be helpful and he was so excited to fill his little wagon and bring a load to the car .
  As years went by and the family moved, we did not see each other for many years. When we did meet Brian again, he was as loving as ever – treating us like old friends (although I know he could not have remembered us).   He was such a gentleman!  Time with him really was a gift!

The last Christmas together, there was music playing. He asked me to dance. While we were dancing he smiled and told jokes. I was so happy to share that moment with him because he didn’t always remember faces. In that moment, he knew exactly who I was. When we were done he told me I was so beautiful. 

I’ll never forget that day. Miss you very much uncle Brian. Your laugh most of all ❤️

Brian was such a sweetheart! He had such a cheery disposition and always seemed so upbeat and positive. I was always impressed with how thoughtful and polite Brian was. His sense of humour was a delight and he always made me smile.  He was such a joy to know, he will be missed by all who knew him~ Rest in Peace dear heart!~



My last  memory of Brian was in the summer of 2019.

Up to The Okanagan for a vacation,and we spent a lovely afternoon with Brian and Mark at the park by the lake in Peachland eating ice cream and my husband Klaas took them to the Museum in Peachland and Brian just loved that.
Rest In Peace Brian you had a beautiful heart and spirit and will be well missed by many.

Brian was always happy every time I saw him. My favourite times with him was when I’d get invited by Nancy and Dan to go camping with them to Cultus Lake. They would take the whole group to Sunnyside Campground and stay a couple nights. Brian would always want me to play badminton with him and he always beat me. He thought this was so funny! I tried and tried and he was undefeated. He always remembered that between him and I he was the Champ. Such a sweetheart, RIP dear Brian. Love Janet Chambers

I have so many memories of Uncle Brian, I spent so so many days hanging out with grampa and Brian that I can't really pick just one. 

Brian was part of the special olympics bowling team and I was so blessed to be able to attend the tournaments with him. He was always so happy and excited to bring me with him. One time I went with him I was 6 months pregnant and all the girls that were on my team wanted to rub my stomach for good luck. Uncle Brian thought that was the funniest thing. 

Uncle Brian I love you and always will. I struggle with the fact that we won't ever hear your laugh, see your smiling face or even hear your grumbles when you are not impressed ever again. I will forever miss you. You are the special Angel watching over us. I pray you have all the red bricks your heart desires in your possession and all the WWF dvds you can wish for!!!

Brian was such a sweet man, many years ago we played ball in the pool CSCL used to have with Brian and a friend. He used to attend Vicki Malloway's birthday parties and was always so helpful and fun to be around. We will miss seeing his smiling face.

I have never forgotten Brian’s gentle heart and hysterical sense of humour.  I would bring Brandy to Dilly’s and Ingvar’s to visit her Amma & Avi  and then Brian would push her stroller back home with me and he would chat my ears off all the way home. I would just laugh because his thought processes were amazing. He was so cheerful and he loved to spend time with his little niece.  I was invited by his school Happy Thought to help them with a swimming day and Brian was so proud that I went he introduced me to all his friends. Those children exuded the true feeling of happiness and 48 years later I can’t forget that experience or forget the experience of having known Brian. Rest in our Maker’s gentle care Brian you were a gift in our lives. Bless your innocent heart 

My memories of my brother Brian are many but the ones that sit in the back of my mind is when he was roughly 3 years old and we had a dog "Hobo" that did not let Brian get out of Moms sight. If he did Hobo would grab him by his waist and pull him back.  

Another good memory of Brian was when he was a little older he would sit at the end of the driveway waiting for the school bus to come knowing that his siblings were back with him. and maybe take him n their bikes to town to buy an ice cream cone.

Among the fondest memories with Uncle Brian I have, I’d have to say that our Saturday morning trips to town (Selkirk) with Grandpa Ingy in the truck would be at the top of the list. It was a weekly ritual that got us each a pop and bag of chips to enjoy while we watched WWF. And anyone who knew Brian, knows that wrestling was, hands down, Brian’s favourite thing to watch when we were kids.
