Claudio Biason was born on July 16/1954 in Italy. Son of Giuseppe and Iolanda Biason.
They moved to Canada in 1967 when he was 13 with his brother Guliano.
Everyone in Italy told them to learn French because that’s what they speak in Canada. So when they immigrated to Prince George B.C. he had to learn a third language . Claudio developed a “can do, don't give up” attitude early on.
After school , Claude and one of his buddies heard of work up in Mackenzie north of Prince George where they worked for a couple months in a sawmill. Then moved back down to Prince George where he met the love of his life Lenora ,and after a short courtship they got married in 1974. Claudio and Lenora moved to Port Coquitlam in 1975. They then moved to an older farm on the outskirts of Aldergrove where they raised their daughter Deanna . They had cows, pigs and chickens. Claudio took good care of all the animals and would always have a loyal dog by his side. They really did live the farmstead lifestyle for 10 years while both working at Indal Window Company.
He had a love for stained glass, designing many pieces in his workshop at home. He would spend hours making beautiful glass pieces. Claudio would always have a project on the go whether it be refinishing furniture, constant home improvements, gardening of any plant, pretty much anything you could think of he would have built it and if you couldn't think of it he would design and build it for you. If it was cheaper to build he would build it and it would be better than the store bought, with extra bells and whistles.
One of Claudio's passions was gold mining and fishing. Wherever there was a river, creek or rock to move. You could find him having fun, doing what he loved. As a family we would always go camping trying to find the best gold mining spots. He loved it so much we once were caught in a forest fire and we had ashes falling on the vehicles. Claudio still didn’t really want to leave “What, it’s only ashes!” he said. Some of the best times he had was at Poor man's lake in the Yukon with family and friends where they found lots of gold and caught lots of fish. The best part of it was making memories with family and friends.
Claudios two grandsons Eddie and Deon had a lot of fun together. They went boating, gold mining, fishing and was a mentor to them. They could always go to Claudio if they had a problem and he would know what to do. Instead of going to Disneyland they would go camping way out in the woods with no service. Which to us was way more fun. Claudio collaborated with his grandson Deon to write a song called Grandfather Clock. Where they sat down for hours developing an instrumental on the guitar. Deon played and Claudio corrected him until he got it right. We will play it soon
Claudio and Lenora both worked at different window factories until they moved to Hope B.C. in 2002 when Claudio started working at Westeck. He made a lot of friends at Westeck. Lenora would know them all without ever meeting them because he would come home and tell her all the stories of what great people he worked with. He tried to retire but he missed the work and comradery. He felt like he was part of a team. He remained there for the last 22 Years right up till he was too sick to go back.
He’s left a huge impact in all of our lives.
He will be dearly missed.
