Dolores was born on June 15, 1927, in Marysburg, SK. Dolores was the eldest of 9 children born to Quirin Puetz and Martha (Skalicky) Puetz.
Dolores worked at Auld Phillips and as a teacher at St. Mary’s School in Chilliwack in 1950, when she met a young RCMP officer, John Kerster on a blind date. They were married on Aug 4, 1951, and John left the RCMP to join the Royal Canadian Air Force Police.
John’s career took them to Europe in 1951 where they lived until 1956 and returned to Canada to settle in Saskatoon, SK, St. Jean, PQ, and then Ottawa, ON.
Dolores was a teacher by profession and when in Europe, she taught at the school on the Air Force base, where John was stationed. She continued her teaching career back East until 1967. In 1968, she opened a children’s clothing store called Kendra Ann’s and had three locations in the Ottawa area, until their close in 1980. Dolores then began her career as an area supervisor for Irene Hill, a chain of ladies’ wear stores which took her to AB and finally to BC where they stayed till retirement.
During the first part of her retirement, they resided in Horsefly, BC and renovated a beautiful pan-abode log house on the lake. Mom was an avid gardener and was an exceptional homemaker. She loved the views of the lake and the call of the loons. She made holidays so very special for everyone and loved entertaining.
Dolores will be remembered by her children, Richard (Cecile), Howard and Kendra (Brent) four grandchildren, James, Derek, Donald (Connie) and Richard as well as three great grandchildren, Ophelia, Brent, and Fredrik.
She will be sadly missed by her sisters Theresa, Jenny, Rita and Martha and her brother Doug. Dolores was predeceased by her brother Harold and sisters, Rose, and Carol.
We will miss our daily phone calls and weekly visits. She will always be in our hearts, and we know she and dad are happy together again.
