Avid political blogger and Tilley aficionado Douglas James Parks passed away on June 28, 2021 at the age of 67 in Chilliwack, British Columbia after a 2 year courageous battle with cancer. Despite the pain, Doug came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
Doug was a local semi truck driver his entire working life and was well-known as "The Hat" by many of his co-workers, friends, and acquaintances as he was rarely seen without his iconic Tilley hat. Doug was also a frequent and passionate political debater and blogger known as "13".
Most summers, Doug could be found lounging at his favorite campsite at Cultus Lake with his wife and his favorite offspring , Pomchi Willow, or at the shooting range in the early morning hours.
Doug was a loving husband and an amazing father who will be greatly missed. Doug is survived by his wife Cynthia and 3 sons: Darren, Chris (Michelle), Ken (Nadia and grandson due in August), and his brother Brian and nieces Melanie and Nicole.
