Beloved by her sisters, their families and friends, and the team of dedicated support workers with Inclusion Chilliwack, Erin left a large mark on the hearts of many.
Born in Pembroke, ON, on Nov. 27, 1971, Erin was the youngest of Vic and Iva Hancock’s four daughters. From the outside she lived a life of hospitals, procedures, uncertainty, and ongoing care. But in reality, Erin lived a life full of constant love, laughter, inside jokes, singing, travel, grilled cheese sandwiches and KitKat bars and was always surrounded by loving care, support, and inclusion.
Erin is survived by her heartbroken sisters Dawn McKay (Mike), Lynne Pearson (Matt), and Kim Hancock of Chilliwack and their families. She was predeceased by her parents Vic in 2005 and Iva in 2024, and by her brother Doug Adair in 2023.
Erin’s sisters would like to thank the amazing folks at Gillette Place, Inclusion Chilliwack (formerly Chilliwack Society for Community Living), for their years of loving, dedicated support of Erin. Over the years these caring folks became Erin’s family, taking her on trips far and wide, introducing her to new activities, and celebrating her achievements large and small. We are filled with gratitude for the many ways Erin’s team went above and beyond in their care for her.
Funeral services for Erin will be held Wednesday, October 15th at 2pm, Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, in Chilliwack.
In lieu of flowers, Erin’s sisters ask for donations to Inclusion Chilliwack Society or a charity of your choice supporting disabled adults.
