My uncle George,

always had a way of making me feel comfortable during visits which at times were so few and far between.........

he would take the time to single me out and engage in a conversation poking fun, jokes, and teasing,,,,,,,,,,,,,

as time passed by I would try to return jokes and teasing of my own.......... 

Thank you uncle George for turning awkward moments into fond memories.......

My dad:

could do anything he set his mind to; build a cabin cruise boat at 19, build a cabin, furniture, cupboards, trailers, perform auto body work, fiberglass repairs, and if it had an engine he could fix it.

was a hard worker.  Most nights he would come home from work and go down to his shop in the basement and continue working on whatever project he had going at the time.  And then he’d work all weekend at our cabin also.

would do anything to help his friends.  He’d fix their cars, repair their house.  He’d just show up and start working on a repair that you forgot you even mentioned to him.

always tried to teach me to do things for myself.  While we were working together or if all I was doing was holding the flashlight so he could see he would be explaining what he was doing and why. 

always said, “The hardest part of any job was getting started” and “If a job was worth doing it was worth doing right”.  Truer words were never spoken and he lived by that last one.

valued friendship and would reach out to people he hadn’t seen in a while just to see how they were doing.
 
and mom Ellen enjoyed entertaining and having company stay at our cabin.  He would always go out of his way to make sure they had a good time while they were there. 

loved our cabin in Pender Harbour more than anywhere before (or after).  He told me many times he wished he'd never sold it.  Me too.

was a decent man who rarely used profanities.  It is a fact that I never once heard him use the “F” word.

whistled when he was happy.  He whistled a lot.

Thank you for reading this and if you knew my dad and were his friend, please think of him occasionally.  He would be happy with that.

To my dad...thank you for always being there for me and teaching me so much.  You never used the words but your love for me was always clear.  I will always love you.  Goodbye for now.

Mr. Stephen was our neighbor for many years, Wayne and I are still friends.  He was a great teaser, came to our house one Christmas and started packing up all of our toys and was taking them home haha.  He also took me to their cabin on Pender Island and he taught me to water ski.  Wonderful man and he will be greatly missed.  RIP George

I like to take this moment and express my feelings and say goodbye to my grandpa....... since the Covid rules suck and the Government won’t let us grieve properly !!! 

So here we go, This man,
taught me three simple things....

First” 
he helped me, by perfecting my counting to 100, by walking up and down a mountain driveway at the Family Oceanside cabin every summer we visited. 
I think it was his way of kept me busy, 
as a little kid..... so much energy...lol

Second thing, 
He told me” always learn one thing, 
Every year it doesn’t matter what it is......
Don’t stop learning. 

Third thing.......... never stop working
Working keeps you alive......
