Jeanne loved family, friends, quilting, camping, playing bridge, card making, and shopping for a deal. She was a lifelong learner, an avid reader and spent many hours on her computer gathering new knowledge.
Born in Spirit River, Alberta, Jeanne formed lifelong friendships (Norma, Merle) before moving to Chilliwack in Grade 11 — the community she would call home. Her parents, George and Peggy Inkin owned a corner store, where she learned the value of hard work and family commitment.
Jeanne was predeceased by her beloved, Bud. She was mother to Michael, Margaret (Darlene), Mylinda, and Misty (Warren), and a proud grandma to Cayley, Megan, Riley, and Liam. She lost her dear friend, Marlene Henry and promised to watch over her children, Simone and Daryl. She became an honorary grandmother to Chase and Emily. Helen Murray was Matron of Honour: at her second wedding and the Murray family provided friendship throughout her life.
Jeanne was a homemaker, trying out various crafts but after she made her first quilt she was HOOKED. She obsessively threw herself into quilting. If you sleep under a homemade quilt – you sleep under a blanket of love and she produced many. Jeanne taught quilting for beginners and became a founding member of the Chilliwack Quilters’ Guild in 1985. At the October quilt show, she was honoured for her contributions along with longtime friend, Penny Siddons.
On the drive home, Jeanne said to her daughter quietly, “I guess I did make a difference in some people’s lives.”
She responded, “Yes, you did, Mom and we are very proud of you!”
We both cried a little.
Jeanne’s children hope that her friends, members of the guild and brunch group will join in the Celebration of her life on Sunday, March 22 at 1:00 pm at the Mt. Cheam Lions Hall 45580 Spadina Ave.
