Gerhard "Gary" Neugebauer

Born in Sudetenland, Czechoslovakia, Gary's early life was shaped by resilience and determination. After his family was forced to relocate to Germany during the war, he grew up in Fürth, Bavaria, where he became a skilled metalworker and boilermaker. At 19, he embarked on his greatest adventure—emigrating to Canada—where he built a life filled with love, hard work, and countless cherished memories.

Gary lived by simple but profound values: "Whatever you do, do with your might; things done by halves are never done right." He valued loyalty, commitment, and honesty, and worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family and set an example for his sons. As he once said, "I hope I can leave a legacy of a caring, loving, loyal, hard-working, giving, and wise father and husband."

He found joy in life's simple pleasures—a well-cast line at his favourite fishing spot on the Vedder River, a DIY (Do-It-Yourself) project to tinker with, and a good laugh with family and friends. His fondest memories were of time spent with his wife Janet and his sons Michael and Peter —camping across Ontario's provincial parks, cheering at hockey, soccer, swim meets, and triathlons, building backyard projects together, and creating a lifetime of adventures. "My time with them was precious," he reflected, "and for the most part, flew by too quickly."

Gary is survived by his beloved wife Janet, his sons Peter and Michael and their families, along with extended family across Canada and Germany. He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
