Grace, whose vibrant light was dimmed on January 9, 2026, after a brave battle with pulmonary fibrosis, left too soon, but was surrounded by the love of her family and dearest friends. Grace was a force of nature, known affectionately as “Amazing Grace” to some and “Quiltin’ Gracie” to others. She embodied resilience and warmth, a cherished mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by a family she adored: her daughters, Michelle (Joe) Nagy and Lori (Scott) Barrick; her brother, Ewan (Darlene) MacDonald; and her seven beloved grandchildren: Letisha Nagy, Brett (Payton) Nagy, Brady Barrick, Aliya Barrick, Katie Barrick, Meagan Sharpe, and Dawson Sharpe. They were her absolute pride and joy. Grace also leaves behind a large extended family of cousins and nieces and nephews, for whom she was a constant source of warmth. Additionally she leaves behind many dear friends from her quilting circles and neighborhood, whose companionship brought her immense happiness.
Grace’s passion for quilting was legendary. With every stitch, she wove love, friendship, and generosity into existence. Her nimble hands created countless masterpieces, warming the lives of her family and providing comfort to those in need through community donations. Her creativity and giving spirit live on in every quilt she made.
Grace was predeceased by her parents, Marian and Bannatyne MacDonald, and her two brothers, Bill and Donald. She was also predeceased by her partner, John Scott; though he passed years before, the love they built together remained a constant in her life.
A celebration of Grace’s remarkable life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
