Helga Marianne Driedger

Helga was born in Rendsburg, Germany in February 1947. After immigrating to Canada when she was 9, she grew up in Waldheim, SK with her 3 brothers. She was married to Ron in the summer of ’69 and they moved to BC shortly after, living in Vancouver, Victoria (twice), Vernon, Prince George, and Chilliwack.

While there is much that could be said about Helga’s accomplishments, love of travel, career, and creativity, what we think most people will remember her for are her music, her strong faith, the amazing things that came out of her kitchen, and her loving and caring spirit.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Ron, children Tannis and David (Tara), grandchildren Sydney, Jamie, Noah, Zachariah, and Max, great-grandchild Lorelei, brothers Werner (Leona), Ginter (Debbie), and Rolf (Cynthia), in-laws Norman (Carol), Wilfred (Lois), Norlaine (Eric), Bentley (Alma), Miranda (Bob), and Eldon (Marlene), and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express our deep gratitude to Dr. Page and his team, Dr. Zulfiqar and the staff of the BC Cancer Agency, Chilliwack General Hospital, and Cascade Hospice for the compassionate and skillful care she received.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Chilliwack Alliance Church (8700 Young Road, Chilliwack) on July 14 at 1:30pm, with a reception to follow.
