James Bremer

Jan was born in Burum, Freisland to Errit and Aaltje (Van Lingen) Bremer. When James was 18 years old he immigrated to Abbotsford, BC. He worked on the dairy farm of the late John and Tina Dejong in the Sumas Prairie for 10 years. James started farming with his first wife Anne in 1967 and eventually purchased a farm in Agassiz.

James loved his farming lifestyle and was able to farm right up until a few months before his passing. He took great pride in his Holstein cows and improving the quality of his fields and grass crops.

James especially enjoyed visits and phone calls from his children and grandchildren. Always up for a chat, he would soon be in a conversation with whomever might be dropping by the farm yard.

James also took time for reading, keeping up with current events and listening to some of the old classic country music artists.

Over the last few years James met, and enjoyed a close friendship with his neighbor, Grace Boer.

We, his children wish to give Grace a special thank you for the many hours spent with Dad, driving to appointments, meals and the overall care and concern she gave to him.

James was predeceased by his loving wife Estalita, parents Errit and Aaltje Bremer, Grandson Josiah Roos and Great- Grandson Malik Roos, brothers August Bremer and Jacob Bremer and brother in law Gerben Hiemstra.

He is survived by his children, Errett (Wilma) Bremer, Lisa (Ken) Roos, Judy Bremer and Jerry Bremer. 20 Grandchildren and 36 Great- Grandchildren. As well as brothers and sisters (Alice) Bremer Reitsma, (Griet) Bremer-Roorda, Etje Bremer Hiemstra, Errie Van Dellen Bremer (Dirk), Lies Hamstra Bremer (Geert), Grietje Schutte Bremer (Theo), Klass (willy) Bremer Stoel, Gerrit Bremer.

A funeral service for James will be held Friday, March 18, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 PM at Henderson's Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 45901 Victoria Ave, Chilliwack, BC V2P2S9. A graveside service will occur Friday, March 18, 2022 from 1:46 PM to 2:30 PM at Chilliwack Cemetery, 10111 Hilcrest Drive, Chilliwack, BC V2R4T3. A reception will occur Friday, March 18, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, 45901 Victoria Ave, Chilliwack, BC V2P2S9.
