Joan was born on March 23, 1939 to Victor and Florence Smith in Victoria, BC.
Joan is survived by her husband of 27 years, Wesley Wankel, her son, Gordon Stevenson of Victoria, BC, step-son Randy Wankel (Judy) of Victoria, BC, step-daughters Colleen Perry (Craig) of North Vancouver, BC, Elaine Nakonechny (Darryl) of Lethbridge, AB, Trudy Wankel of Lethbridge, AB and Michelle Diehl (Leighton) of Victoria, BC, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Cremation has been entrusted to Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home.
