Katie was born in Tatjanovka, Siberia on September 20, 1920; the seventh child of thirteen. Katie and her family endured many hardships and persecution but their faith always saw them through. She was baptized in 1938 in a secret ceremony in the forest accepting the Lord into her heart and taking his strength and courage with great joy.
Katie and other members of her family emigrated to Canada in the spring of 1948 coming finally to settle in Greendale. She married Henry Mothus in 1951 and together they raised four children.
Katie was a hard worker and took various jobs to help support her family. She always had a garden, both for the table and for the pleasure of the beauty of her flowers. She was a wonderful cook who passed on many recipes and traditions which continue today. Her love also extended to all animals who crossed her path bringing much love and happiness to her heart.
Even after moving to her final home in Cottonwood Retirement Village, Chilliwack BC, she prided herself in her flowers and loved to walk every day, making friends along the way. She faithfully supported her church for over 66 years until she was no longer physically able to attend. Her faith never waivered to the end and she always knew when it was time, God would come to bring her home.
Katie left us on September 25, 2015 in the early evening, peacefully and in the presence of her family. She leaves behind her sons Erwin (Trudy), Ernie (Dawna), daughter Rose (Ron), grandchildren Ian, David (Sara), Christel (Lorne), Tanya (Shaw), Jeremy (Amber), Jonathan (Andrea), Seth, Alex (Dusty) and great grandchildren Teyanna, Victorya, Brady, Connor, Madison, Sienna, Meadow, Lincoln, James, Aubrey, Mikel, Remington and Mackenzie.
Her family and her faith were her world and she will forever be missed, but always in our hearts.
