

Gary is survived by his children Charlene(Ron),Patricia, Gerry(Gay)& Daniel; Grandchildren Lee(Christa),Laura(Jesse),Abby(Aaron),Adam (Diana), Karmen, Yusef(Suad), Colin(Jaclyn)&Lindsay; Great Grandchildren Noah, Yaseen, Ruth, Harvey, Zacharia, Aliyah, Jack, Everleigh & Kade; Brothers-in law Richard, Bill(Sandy) & Rick; Sisters-in law Elaine(Doug), Colette, Crystal and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary was predeceased by his Mother Susan Hines (nee Gallant, nee Delaney) Step-Father Norman Hines, his wife of 59 years-Mary Agnes, his Siblings Regina, Kevin, Doreen, Walter, William, Phonse & Michael; Brothers-in law George, Don, Roy & Jim; Sisters- in law Louise, Rhea, & Harriett; Son -in law Vilis.
Gary was born & raised in St. Georges Newfoundland & joined the Canadian Air Force at age 19. He trained as a Telecommunications Electronic Technician; becoming an instructor in his field. During his military career he was involved in a NATO peace- keeping mission in Germany during the Korean War; receiving the Special Service Medal. After retiring from the military, Gary went to college and worked in the engineering side of Communications systems with Microtel/Telus B.C.
Gary loved to play guitar & played in the dance bands Red Eleven & Eleventh Hour, while stationed in Greenwood N.S.
One of Garys most joyful life events was receiving confirmation & closure through Ancestry.ca of his biological father Stephen Bennett; meeting his sisters Bonnie, Debbie & Phyllis in 2022 was a highlight.
Gary was proud of both his Newfoundland & Indigenous Heritage and was honored to receive the Canadian Aboriginal War Veterans medal in 2023.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank you to staff at Glenwood Seniors Community & Chilliwack General Hospital. Also, a heartfelt Thank you to family & friends, especially niece Heather & nephew Michael for their ongoing support.
