Simon Bal

Simon Bal passed away peacefully on December 14, 2016 at Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 96. Simon was born on March 20, 1920 in Dirksland, Netherlands. Simon is survived by his 7 children, 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren,(7th on it’s way). Rina (Harold) VanderStad, New Jersey, U.S.A. Jan (Melinda) and Eric, Ontario. Mike VanderStad, New Jersey, U.S.A. Bill Bal, Chilliwack, Tony (Lenora) Bal, Marcel, Jillian (Thomas) Strahl, Elizabeth. Chilliwack. Betty (Doug) Moore, Chilliwack. Debra (Jeff) Trayton, Kendal Watson, Aldergrove. Jaclyn (Tim),Chilliwack. Len (Sharlene) Bal, Shannon, Heather, Chilliwack. Janette (Stan) Bootsma, Steven, Bradley, Chilliwack. Janey (Harold) Slingerland, Chris (Tessa), Brayden, Violet, Austin. Janelle, Nicole. Calgary. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Teuntje on January 15, 2006. His daughter Corrie on August 21, 2000, and Antonia on March 29, 1951. Also a brother and a sister. Thank You to his doctor, Dr. Kroeze. Dr. Smith and all the special nurses in emergency and the 4th floor South for their wonderful care of our father, Opa and Great Opa. Thank you to Dr. vanRuitenburg and everyone who stopped to visit dad in the hospital. Thank you to his friends and everyone at Sunset Manor. Viewing for family and friends will be held on December 16, 2016 from 7-8 in the Bethel Netherlands Reformed Congregation Church Hall. 8920 Broadway Street, Chilliwack.

Funeral will be held on Saturday December 17, 2016 at 10:30 A.M at Bethel Netherlands Reformed Congregation Church. Interment to follow at Chilliwack Cemeteries. Tea to follow in the Bethel Netherlands Reformed Congregation Church Hall. Flowers graciously declined.
