He was born on October 5,1946, in Chilliwack, BC, Irv grew up on a farm, planting raspberries alongside his father, William, a founding member and minister at Prest Road Mennonite Church, and his mother, Tiena, a dedicated homemaker. Together they raised Irv and his four siblings: Helen, Ruth, Marv and Karen.
Irv graduated from Chilliwack Senior Secondary before continuing his studies in electronics at BCIT and VVI. He had a passion for electronics, which led him to a fulfilling 45 ½ year career in Cable services before retiring.
He was known for his selfless volunteer work in his church community, always eager to lend a hand. Whether it was helping with church activities, maintaining utilities, or supporting those in need, Irv gave his time and energy without hesitation.
A man of many talents, Irv was hardworking and resourceful. He was the go-to person to fix any issues that arose, both at work and outside of work, always ready to lend a hand to family, friends, and coworkers.
His work ethic was matched by his love for his family. Irv was predeceased by his parents, Tiena and William Rempel. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 ½ years, Heidi; their children, Brad, Jamie (Natasha), and Kim (Dane); and his cherished grandchildren, Avery, Kiana, William, Kinley, and Nikolai.
The children enjoyed activities like swimming, skiing and camping. The family shared fond memories of vacations together to Mexico, Disneyland, Hawaii and other places.
After retirement, Irv and Heidi took to the road in their RV, traveling across BC and exploring other places, including a trip across Canada and Northern USA, Alaska and California.
The family would like to thank Ian Maslin, John and Marg Bartel, family and the many visitors who dropped in with flowers, food, and reminiscing about past times.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Irv’s Life at Chilliwack Alliance Church, April 4, 2025, 2:00 pm.
