Mr. Arvil Lee Black, age 81 formerly of China Grove, passed away at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, VA on Sunday, October 3, 2021 after a brief illness. Born February 2, 1940 in Wilkesboro, NC, Arvil was the son of the late William Davis Black and Myrtle Dishman Black. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Opal Black Efird and Virdie Black Weatherford and brothers, Gilbert and Claude Black.
Arvil proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After his service, he spent his career as a mover - working for many years for Campbell’s Moving Company in Kannapolis where he moved homeowners and offices all over and took care of their moving and transporting needs.
In his spare time, Arvil was an avid hunter and fisherman, loving the time he spent outdoors with nature and really enjoyed the time in the mountains of Virginia. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife and loving companion of 28 years, Nyoka Wallace Black; his sons, Justin Black, James Dial (Ann), Billy Joe Dial (Beth), Sterling Dial (Cynthia), Adolphus Bolen and Clyde Bolen. Also surviving are his brothers, John "Shorty" Black (Vickie), Donald Black (Karen), Everette Black and Fred Black (Judy). He also leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and too many friends to count.
Visitation for Arvil will be on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 1:00 – 2:00pm at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove. Funeral Service will immediately follow in the Chapel at 2:00pm.
