

She was born on October 15, 1932 in Rowan County and was the daughter of the late George Locke Belk and Bessie Yates Belk.
She attended Landis School and was a faithful member of Genesis Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Herbert Burris, her son Herbert Alexander Burris Jr. as well as her son in law Terry Sawyer, brother George Belk Jr and his wife Becky and sister Edith Whisnant and her husband Slim.
Those with cherished memories are her daughters Lynn Sawyer and Pamela Strother (Tom), her brother Donald Belk (Carolyn) and her grandchildren Thomas Strother II (Rachael) and Jeremy Sawyer as well as great grandchildren, Taylor Strother, Jayden Strother and Alden Brumbaugh.
She excelled as a seamstress, where she prided herself in her sewing for her family. She and her husband could be found at Hardee’s in China Grove or spending time at their beach house.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 17 at 2:00 pm at West Lawn Memorial Park with Pastor Rex Ware, officiating.
The family of Mrs. Burris would like to thank the Bayada nurses Mary, Lu and Anson for the care that they gave to their loved one during her failing health.
