Barbara Joyce Thomas

Barbara Joyce Thomas, age 88 of China Grove passed away on Monday, April, 17, 2023 at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House. Born on December 26, 1934 in Rocky Mount, Mrs. Thomas was the daughter of the late Robert Proctor and Agnes Hill Proctor. Mrs. Thomas worked for many years in the banking industry starting in Raleigh with First Citizen's Bank and then moved to China Grove, where she worked as a loan manager with First Union and Wells Fargo. Here in China Grove, she was an active member of First United Methodist Church, where she was involved with many of the women's ministries, including Women of Faith,(formerly United Methodist Women), Women in Touch and Young at Heart. She also served for over 10 years in the Pilot Club of China Grove and Landis. Her family was very important to her as well.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Jack Thomas as well as her sister Karen Humphreys. Those with cherished memories are her sons Scott and Eddie Thomas and daughters Lynn Thomas Hovaldt (Mitch) and Kelly Thomas Bowman (Joe). Her grandchildren are Natalie, Zachary and Stephanie. She was also survived by her great grandchildren Jordah, Carson and Noah and one on the way.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday April 22, 2023 at 11:AM at First United Methodist Church, 110 W. Church St. China Grove, NC 28023. Family visitation will be from 10-11:AM. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church 110 W. Church St. China Grove, NC 28023
