

Carl William Elliott passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017; he was surrounded by family and friends throughout his brief illness. Born December 2, 1923 in Steele Township of Rowan County, he was the son of the late William Raymond Elliott and Willie Louise Lipe Elliott. He was educated in the Rowan County schools and was employed as a master carpenter for over fifty years with both L.S. Bradshaw and A.L Jarrell and Sons of Salisbury. One local example of his excellent craftsmanship is the finished carpentry work on the interior of the Omwake-Dearborne Chapel at Catawba College. But Carl was most proud to be a WWII Veteran; serving in the South Pacific, he was discharged in 1946 as a Tech 5 in the 193rd Tank Battalion.
Upon returning from the Army in 1946, Carl helped to construct Immanuel Presbyterian Church in the Five Forks Community of China Grove. As a charter member, he attended Immanuel all of his adult life and served numerous years as deacon and elder. In 2014, he was bestowed the honor of Elder Emeritus by the Church Session.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Mamie Elliott Moss of Anderson, South Carolina and infant grandson Matthew Daniel Elliott of China Grove.
He is survived by wife Myrtle Wagner Elliott. Others left to cherish his memory are son William David Elliott of China Grove, daughter Sandra Louise Wise of Rockwell, and daughter Deborah Ann Raper of China Grove; also six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and brothers Hubert, Troy and Bill of China Grove.
Service: The family will receive friends from 1:00 till 2:30 pm on Friday November 17, 2017, and a Celebration of Life service will follow immediately in the Chapel of Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home – China Grove, officiated by Dr. Jim Beard of Immanuel Presbyterian and Rev. James Byers of New Hope Presbyterian. Military honors and graveside rites will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice or Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 365 Brown Road, China Grove, NC 28023. under the direction of Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, NC.
