

Born in Rowan County on February 4, 1934, he was the son of the late Carl James Henley and Fannie Mae Kepley Henley.
In addition to his parents, Carlee was preceded in death by his twin sister, Coleen Thompson and sisters, Nellie Michaels and Edith Beaver.
He was a Sergeant 1st Class in the Army National Guard from 1951-1958.
Throughout the years, Carlee worked for the Charlotte Police Department, Modern Finance Company, Prudential Insurance and was owner/operator of Custom Improvers. He retired at the age of 91.
Strong in his Christian faith, Carlee was a life-long member of Landis Baptist Church. He loved to sing, having shared his voice in various quartets through the years.
He loved going to the mountains and the beach, playing golf, and his farm.
Carlee was known for being the man with the duck taped Bible. He always had it with him when eating at Subway and Bojangles.
His greatest accomplishment and joy of his life was his family. He leaves a great legacy behind.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 69 years, Eleanor Connell Henley; son, Trent (Tammy) Henley and daughter, Carla (Scotty) Plott; four grandchildren, Justin (Jennifer) Henley, Caleb (Caitlin) Henley, Morgan (Andrew) Brown, Landon Griffin, and Hayley Plott.
He is further survived by five great- grandchildren, Abby, Sophie, Josiah, Ezekiel and Ada.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 4, 2026, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Piedmont Baptist Church.
The Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:00 PM with Pastor Mike Edwards and Pastor Eddie Graham officiating.
