

Mr. Charlie Clifford Hooks, 90 of China Grove, passed away on Tuesday September 27, 2011 at the Brian Center in Lincolnton. Born on January 12, 1921, he was the son of the late George Washington "Watt" and Mary Pauline Parnell Hooks. Educated in the Rowan County Schools, he was a active member at South China Grove United Methodist Church. He received a Purple Heart for action he saw during WWII in the US Army. Mr. Hooks retired from China Grove Cotton Mills, where he worked in the twister room. His hobbies included fishing and hunting arrowheads.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Withers Hooks. Those left to cherish his memories is his daughter, Elaine Cook of Lincolnton and grandsons Steve and Chris Cook, great grandchildren, Brittany, Amber and Kelsie Cook.
The visitation will be on Thursday from 2:00 til 3:00 at South China Grove United Methodist Church with funeral at 3:00 also at the church, with Rev. Dr. Warner, minister. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
