Dorothy Deal Knight

China Grove-Dorothy Deal Knight, 91, passed away Wednesday morning, April 9, 2014, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Born December 5, 1922 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of Elizabeth Mildred Deal. Educated in the Rowan County Schools, Mrs. Knight retired from Fieldcrest Cannon after 20 years of loyal service. She loved her family and enjoyed gardening, her flowers and quilting.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl "Spoke" Knight, who died April 9, 2006.

Family members left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Lois K. Nesbit (Larry) of Spring Lake, and Laura K. Horton (Dana), of China Grove; her son, Phil C. Knight (Pamela), China Grove; her 6 grandchildren, Jason Nesbit, Crystal Hull, Mary McLaren, Daniel Horton, Jess Knight and Danelle Lambert; and 6 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 11, 2014, from 2:00-3:00 PM at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove. Funeral services to remember and celebrate Mrs. Knight's life will begin at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Donald McManus. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park.
