Eupena Helms " Penny" Spears, age 81 of Landis, passed away on Monday March 28, 2022 at Five Oaks Nursing Home. Mrs. Spears was born on September 1, 1940 in Cabarrus County and was the daughter of the late James Alexander Helms and Hallie Rodgers Helms. She was a longtime member of Landis Baptist Church. Earlier in life, she worked for many years for Linn Corriher Mills and later going to work for H&M Medical Center, where she retired.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ronald Wayne Spears on March 7, 2022 and her brothers, Billy Helms, Marvin Helms and Kenneth Helms. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Ginger McDonald (Mick) and granddaughter Molly McDonald as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 1, 2022 from 2:00 pm till 2:45 pm at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with graveside service to follow at 3:00 pm at West Lawn Memorial Park, with Pastor Mike Austin, officiating.
