Gary Wayne Edwards Sr.

Gary Wayne Edwards, Sr., affectionately known as "G-Dog," passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the age of 67, at his daughter's home, surrounded by family. Born on November 7, 1958, in Kanawha County, West Virginia, he was the son of the late William Howard Edwards, Sr. and Joyce Faye Edwards.

Gary dedicated 39 years of his life to UNC Charlotte as a Facilities Management Supervisor, where he was known for his extensive knowledge of the campus. His colleagues will miss his daily wave and smile. He considered his greatest achievement to be his children, and he cherished the moments spent with his grandchildren. Known for his big, infectious laugh, G-Dog enjoyed playing pool at Smokin Cue and engaged in loving conversations with everyone he met.

A receiving of friends and family will be held at Friendship Southern Baptist on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 5:00 pm, with a memorial service to follow at 6:00 pm. Funeral services will take place at Montgomery Memorial Park Chapel 9619 East Dupont Ave. London, Wset Virginia 25126 on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 2:00 pm, with burial to follow.

Gary is survived by his son, Gary Wayne Edwards, Jr., and wife, Shelby, of Rockwell; daughter, Felishia Maria Edwards of China Grove; and his niece, Alishia Pacion, and husband Andrew, of Gastonia. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Elizabeth "Ellie" Hubbard, Dakota Deese, and Graham Lyle Edwards; his three brothers, William Howard Edwards, Jr. and wife Joetta, of Elkview, Franklin Edwards, of Clay County, WV and David Lee Arthur, Handley, WV and his sister, Lisa Edwards of Gastonia, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and best friend, Timothy Jay Edwards.
