Mrs. Gearlean Walters Hatley, 90 of China Grove, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. Born on November 12, 1926 in Robeson County, she was the daughter of the late Odie and Zonie Hines Walters. Educated in the Robeson County Schools, she was a longtime member of South China Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Hatley retired from China Grove Cotton Mills. She and her husband Vaughn enjoyed traveling, and particularly going out west and NASCAR racing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband of 50 years, Vaughn Hatley Sr. Those left to cherish her memory is her son Vaughn Hatley Jr. and wife Betty of Rockwell and sister Melba Funderburke as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 2:00pm at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove, with Rev. Jimmy Porter, minister. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.linnhoneycuttfuneralhome.com.
