Gray A. Burris

Mr. Gray Arnold Burris, age 75, of Kannapolis, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday June 29, 2013 at the Tucker Hospice House. Born April 9, 1938 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Fred Lee and Gertie Mullis Burris. He was a 1957 graduate of Landis High School. Mr. Burris was a faithful member of Landis Baptist Church, where he was the assistant treasurer of the Sunday School. He was the owner/operator of Burris Garage since 1981. Prior to that he worked for Fiber Industries, Liberty Life Insurance, Rowan Dairy and Linn Mill. Mr. Burris had a good sense of humor and was known for his story telling. He loved to help people in need. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Vera White, and brothers Carl "Gene" Burris and Roy Burris. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Joyce White Burris, daughter Sherry Dendy (Tommy), sons Alan Burris and Doug Burris (Amy) all of Kannapolis. He is also survived by grandchildren Brent Dendy (Lauren), Chasidy and Cessily Burris, Amanda Witherspoon (Noah), Great grandchildren Noah and Ellison Dendy, Grand nephew Andrew Altomare, sister in law Drusilla Burris, his aunt Ruth James and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He also loved his cats Sylvester and Squirrel. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5-7 at Landis Baptist Church with funeral service following at 7:00 at the church. Rev. Max Barton will officiate. Burial service will be Tuesday at 10 am at West Lawn Memorial Park.
