

Born July 7, 1949, in Wayne County, NC, he was the son of the late Rev. John Bruce McLendon and Gladys Ruth Cutchin McLendon.
Harry worked 30+ years at Southern Comfort in Charlotte, NC, and was a member of Kannapolis Church of God.
For 35 years, Harry traveled with his wife, Kay, singing and sharing the gospel of the Lord Jesus. His favorite song was “Don’t Call Me Lucky, Call Me Blessed”.
Some of his hobbies outside of singing included taking trips to Blowing Rock, working on old cars, caring for animals and playing the piano.
In addition to his parents, Harry was also preceded in death by two brothers, John McLendon and Dan McLendon, and one sister, Betty Johnson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Kay Whittington McLendon; three brothers, Glenn McLendon, Jerry (Janet) McLendon and Tommy (Janis) McLendon; three sisters, Linda (Linwood) Hurt, Grace (Durwood) Daniels, Parma Best; several nieces and nephews and extended family.
The family will receive Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 12:00 - 2:00 PM at Kannapolis Church of God.
The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM with Pastor Greg Sloop officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
