Helen Campbell

Mrs. Helen Margaret Karriker Campbell, 90 of Kannapolis passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Best of Care Assisted Living. Born on December 15, 1924 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Guy Preston and Eula Deal Karriker. A graduate of Landis High School and Lenoir Rhyne College, she was a lifelong member of Concordia Lutheran Church.

There at Concordia, she was involved in many areas of church work, including being the longtime choir director, as well as choir director at Back Creek Presbyterian Church and Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church. Also, she was the first woman on the church council at Concordia and was a longtime Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Campbell served on the board of Lutheran Church Women of NC, was treasurer of the Patterson Memorial Scholarship Fund and served as a board member of Lutheran Services Carolinas (formerly Lutheran Family Services) for many years. Professionally she owned and operated Campbell Insurance Agency for more than 45 years.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 69 years, Paul Smith Campbell, son Steven Campbell (Karen) of China Grove and daughters Jan C. Williams (Omar) of Mooresville and Lynne C. Bennett (Steve) of Cornelius. She is also survived by her brother Ray Preston Karriker (Shelby) of Mooresville and sister Phyllis Macmurphy of Matthews. Her grandchildren are Nathan Craver, Timothy Campbell, Stacy Williams Draper and Natalie Williams Runheim. Great grandchildren are Elena Craver, Tuva & Jesper Runheim, and Alexis, Braxton & Branson Draper.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be on Wednesday September 23, 2015 at 4:00 at Concordia Lutheran Church with Rev. Ken Reed, minister and Rev. Larry Bost assisting. The family will receive friends following the service in the family life center.
