

Born on May 6, 1931 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Raymond Elliott and Willie Lipe Elliott. Educated in the Rowan County schools, he was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in China Grove. He served his country in the US Air Force and won the Airman of The Month Award while serving.
Mr. Elliott worked for many years as owner operator of China Grove Exxon. He then went on to work as a truck driver for Schneider's Trucking Line, and then went on to work for NC DOT as a truck driver until his retirement. His time there at DOT was special to him. His passions were mowing his yard, gardening, camping and fishing. His grandchildren were very important to him. Having family over to his house for fish frys and grilled hamburgers made him happy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Hazel Propst Elliott; his grandson Matthew Goodman; brother, Carl Elliott and sister, Mamie Moss.
Those with cherished memories are his daughter, Darlene Elliott Goodman (Alan), brothers, Bill Elliott (Lyndia) and Troy Elliott. Also surviving him are his grandchildren, Erica Goodman, Nicholas Goodman (Jennifer), Caleb Goodman (Preston Ashwood) and Madison Goodman (Bryan Mault). Great-grandchildren are Makayla, Maximus, Jayden, Paisleigh, Laiklyn, Calliope, Hunter and Jasmine Goodman, and Nicolas Mault, Josh Steelman and Myah Covington.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with graveside service on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 3:00 pm at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove with Pastor Chris Henson officiating.
