

Born on May 25, 1923 in Hillsborough, she was the daughter of the late Garland E. and Bessie Wright Crabtree. A graduate of the Orange County Schools, she was a homemaker. Her life with her husband Horace took her to various Church of God appointments, where she was active in Sunday School teaching. Her church life was very important to her even in her later year, ministering to shut ins at Genesis Healthcare, by singing and playing her guitar there. Her hobbies included cooking.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Linda Marlene Livingston and Horace Odell King Jr., brothers Edward and Linwood Crabtree, sisters, Geneva and Eva Crabtree.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 70 years, Rev. Horace King Sr., her children Gwendolyn Odell McGee of Salisbury, Clara King Turner of Indian Trail, Betty Goodwin (David) of Kannapolis and Rev. Phillip King (Debra) of Charlotte. Mrs. King also was survived by sisters, Daisey Lee Jump of Hillsborough and Ruth Workman of Burlington, 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.Mrs. King was the stronghold of the King family which spaned five genegrations.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 6:00 til 8:00 at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with a celebration of life on Friday at 2:00 at China Grove Church of God with Revs.Phillip King,Aaron Powers and David Livingston Jr. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
