

China Grove-Perry Wayne Morgan, 64, passed away unexpectedly at his home, Sunday morning, January 19, 2014. Born May 3, 1949 in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Coy Ray and Cora Ruth Wilhelm Morgan. A graduate of South Rowan High, he had also attended Rowan Cabarrus Community College. Mr. Morgan had honorably served his country with the US Army during the Vietnam Era, where he was the recipient of 2 Purple Hearts and an Air Medal. A life long member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, he was a member of the church council and choir. Mr. Morgan had been a loyal employee of Duke Power for more than 40 years, where he was a master maintenance technician, and had enjoyed farming his whole life. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family members left with cherished memories include his wife of nearly 42 years, Christine Taylor Morgan; his son, Christopher Wayne Morgan; daughter, Stephanie Morgan Frisbee and husband, John Huffstetler; all of China Grove, brother, Joel Morgan (Cynthia), Sunset Beach; his sisters, Alice Weddington (John), of China Grove and Emma Jones (Tom), of Holden Beach, and his three grandsons, Peyton Morgan Huffstetler, Keegan Helm Huffstetler and Brandon Earl Keith.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 23, 2014, from 1:00-2:30 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, and will be at the residence at other times. Funeral services to celebrate and remember Mr. Morgan will begin at 2:30 in the church, conducted by the Rev. Gene Bruce. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
