Mrs. Rosa Belle Biggerstaff Black, age 86 of Rockwell, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Atrium Health-Cabarrus in Concord. Born November 17, 1934 in Rowan County, Rosa was the daughter of the late Alfred A. Biggerstaff and Ella Cleo Smith Biggerstaff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jennifer Leon and her two brothers and three sisters. Rosa was a member of Genesis Baptist Church.
After high school, Rosa spent her career in production within the electrical manufacturing industry. Her more important job was raising her two sons and caring for her family. She was a wonderful baker; she will be most remembered for her cakes, cookies and pies. She was also an excellent cook and loved cooking and preparing her specialties for large family gatherings. Her husband would plant her special garden each year and she would can her own vegetables for the family and others to enjoy. As a family, she and her husband loved traveling to the mountains and to the beach. They would decide at the last minute to drive the boys to the beach, sometimes waking them to leave at 4:00am, saying “grab your pillows and let’s go”!
Rosa loved listening to gospel music. She will be most remembered for having a servant’s heart and always doing not only for her family and grandchildren, but for anyone who needed a helping hand. Her loving touch will be sorely missed by her precious family.
Those left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 67 years, William Everette Black of the home, along with her two sons, Jeff Black and his wife, Susan and Keith Black and his wife, Robin. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Bryan Black and Clint Mills along with great-grandchildren, Kimberly Leon, Logan Leon, Danyelle Black and Autumn Black.
