David (Dave) John Birmingham a resident of Chino Hills Ca. for 34 years went peacefully home to be with the Lord on the 24th of November 2015. He was at the age of 67. David was born to his beloved parents John Richard and June (Guenther) Birmingham on June 3rd 1948. David was blessed to be part of a family that consists of 3 brothers and 2 sisters (John, Barbara, Judy the twins Ronald and Rodney). As you can imagine life was full of many adventures that brought much laughter and occasional tears around the dinner table as stories of their growing up were retold. In the town of Torrance next to the famous California beaches is where David’s love of the ocean and fishing began. You can often find David and his Dad going to the busy pier of Redondo and out fishing the ocean on a bright and sunny day. (What is kind of funny and interesting, is that David loved to catch fish but rarely would like to eat it). As a student of South High School David met Nancy Ann Weber, fell in love, graduated and began working at Standard Oil the day after graduation in 1966. The two of them married in 1967 and welcomed their son David John Birmingham Jr. One year later welcomed their daughter Constance Ann Birmingham into their hearts. With a growing family and an employer willing to pay for David’s training to become a truck driver. Dave would provide for his family hauling gas and then years later hauling milk. It was while he was a truck driver he became interested in CB Clubs and would go by the handle (Huggy Bear). Dave also loved baseball and enjoyed playing and coaching for his children when they were younger. You could find him at home rooting and yelling at the T.V. for his team the Angels. As we all know sometimes a game would be won or lost by a good pitcher sending you a curve ball and for Dave that ball would be Dave’s and Nancy’s marriage ending in the year 1979. As is with all great heroes in baseball and in life Dave brushed the dust off and continued to do the best he could as he went into extra innings as a single father. Dave a believer in the forgiveness, grace, and mercy that comes with a relationship with Jesus, was blessed with a life full of New Beginnings. Dave would soon meet and fall in love with Mary Jean Porter and Mary’s son Robert Bartram. In the spring on the 20th of March 1981 Dave and Mary Married. You would be able to See Dave carrying on his dad’s legacy by taking out the boat to Silver Wood Lake, Camping, and Fishing in Bishop, going to the ocean, jet skiing and out to the river. Later on as his children grew and started having families themselves he would love to spend time with his children’s spouses ( Miles and Sandra), his step grandchildren (Amber and Ashlee), grandchildren (Jacob, Brianna, Cody and Miley) and great step grandchildren( Ricky, Ryan, Jayden, Avee, and Jaxson) at birthday parties and on vacations to the desert. With the beginning of a new season in life of retirement, Dave would enjoy taking his 2004 corvette out to State Line and Laughlin, Nevada with his wife Mary. They both would love to travel, taking their motor home along the coast to Santa Barbara and Ventura. Plane trips and car rides to Oregon and cruises to Alaska. As per the request of Dave, the family is not to have a funeral but will be having a celebration of his life at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be sent to Salem Christian Home and or SPCA.
