Kenneth "Ken" Doyle Prestridge, 86 of Fresno, California passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026, in the peaceful surroundings of A Place Called Home in Clovis, California.
Ken was born on June 5, 1939, at Albuquerque, New Mexico to his parents Jasper Doyle and Jimmie Sue Prestridge. He had one brother, Ronald "Ron" Dale Prestridge.
Ken graduated from Chowchilla Union High School in 1957, then attended and graduated from Stanford University in 1961 with a B.A. in Anthropology. He later moved to Chicago, Illinois and attended the University of Chicago and completed his Masters in Psychology. He was employed by the State of Illinois as a clinical psychologist and worked in a lock-down facility for the mentally ill.
He was married to Roberta and enjoyed the many features of Chicago such as Bulls, Bears, and Cubs. He attended the philharmonic and attended the many museums located in the city. He later was widowed after Roberta's death. Ken had no children.
Ken traveled abroad extensively to the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, Central America, and Mexico. Many of his overseas trips were taken with his brother Ron. He became a better than average photographer and shared widely his awesome pictures with many of those on the same adventures.
After retirement, Ken started to slowly lose his vision. He sold his home in Chicago and moved to Fresno, California to be near his brother Ron and his nephew Neil Prestridge. He lived at the Terraces at the San Joaquin Gardens in the independent living section of the campus. After becoming blind he moved into the Assisted Living portion of the Terraces. In the end, he left the Terraces and moved into a hospice home called A Place Called Home in Clovis, California where he passed.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Palm Memorial Worden Chapel, 140 South 6th Street, Chowchilla, California.
A Graveside Service will follow at the Chowchilla District Cemetery, 23359 Road 14 1/2, Chowchilla, California.
