

Larry and his family moved to the Red Top area in Chowchilla in 1952. He grew up and graduated from Chowchilla Union High School in 1961. He attended Fresno City College and then he came back home and farmed with his dad. They soon increased their acreage and became L & L Ranch. He has made his life as a farmer there ever since. He met the love of his life Cynthia Terry in 1967 while dragging main street in Merced. They were married January 25, 1969. They had 3 children Cindy, Michelle, and Rip.
Larry was involved in various activities throughout the years. He was on the Minturn Co-op Gin Board, Chowchilla Water District Board, Blue Diamond Almond Board, and member of the Webfoot Duck Club. He also was an assistant coach for his son Rip and his baseball teams until Rip entered high school. One year even making it all the way to the Baseball Regionals in Pleasanton, CA. In his early years, Larry loved the competition of racing motorcycles. Throughout his life, he loved spending his spare time with his family and friends in the mountains camping, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed time at the Duck Club, trap shooting and watching his grandchildren play their sports.
Unfortunately, in March 2010 Larry suffered a massive stroke which dramatically changed his life. Rip & Varley stepped in to take over the ranch but Larry made sure he still had the final word.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lin & Ida, and brother Joseph.
He is survived by his wife of his 47 years, Cynthia Rogers; daughters Cindy (Don) York, Michelle (Varley) Fitch, son Rip Rogers; grandchildren Samantha, Cooper, Luke Seals; Avery and Brian Fitch; step-grandchildren Michael & Seth York.
The memorial mass will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Columba Catholic Church, 213 Orange Ave, Chowchilla, CA.
