

She was born on October 15, 1931 in Circleville to William A. and Elizabeth (Cave) Moore-Hoffman Sr. Joan, also known by many as Jo, won 1st place in The Circleville Pumpkin Show baby parade contest in 1931 and 3rd place in 1932. She was a 1949 graduate of Circleville High School being active in many organizations and then went on to Office Training School in Columbus. Joan worked at the Kimble Glass Company in Columbus which made television glass picture tubes and was there when the company turned into Owens-Illinois where she worked as the executive secretary to the plant manager for 10 years. On May 16, 1959 she married Joseph William Theado Jr. and continued to work until starting a family. Joan was very active in Altar-Rosary Society, Mothers Club, church rummage sales, being a room mother, Parent Teacher Association and cleaning the church. Joan along with Patricia Frericks and Mary Anne Greaney started the church bereavement luncheons that she worked on for many years.
In addition to her parents, her husband of 57 years, and her father- and-mother-in-law Joseph W. and Florence Theado Sr., she is the last living Hoffman Family sibling being preceded in death by her brothers and sisters and their spouses, William A. (Mary) Hoffman Jr., Frances (Gerald) Hoffman-Masengale, Charlotte (Loren) Hoffman-Morgan-Paxton, Barbara Hoffman, Mary Margaret (Sheldon) Moore-Mader, John (Mary Ann) Moore and Sara Catherine (Charles) Moore-Rettemnier.
Joan is survived by her son, Michael Joseph Theado, and her daughters, Kathryn Ann Theado and Patricia Jo Theado-Meyers, granddaughter, Elizabeth Mary Meyers, grandson, John William Meyers, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 4-7 pm Thursday, April 16, 2026, with Rosary being recited at 7 pm at the Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E. Main St., Circleville, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Friday, April 17, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 134 W. Mound St., Circleville, OH. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Circleville, OH. If desired, contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass offerings are welcome.
