Scott was born on March 19, 1977 in Circleville, Ohio to Rick and Thelma Petty. He graduated from Circleville High School and Pickaway Ross Vocational Center. He followed in his father’s footsteps and became a truck driver for many years. After being behind the wheel, Scott decided to follow a new passion and helped recover trucks from accidents and road hazards. He loved being able to help fellow truck drivers and the machinery he was able to play with.
Scott followed his love for the road and became an avid motorcyclist. He loved his Harley Davidson CVO, and he loved going on new adventures and exploring new places with Renee. He really wanted to show her the world. Family was very important to Scott. He loved being the entertainer and loved doing cookouts for them. Fourth of July was especially his favorite time to entertain, and he loved the fireworks display he could create. His love for entertaining also included his community. He lead the parade on his Harley dressed up as the Grinch for the Stoutsville Christmas Parade.
Scott is preceded in death by his father, Rick Petty, his paternal grandparents, and his maternal grandmother.
Scott is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Susan Renee Lyons; his mother, Thelma Petty; his sisters, Melissa McClure and Debbie Bradshaw; his uncle, Mike (Sheryl) Petty; his sidekick, Gage Derr; many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Defenbaugh Wise Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E. Main St, Circleville. Family encourages friends to wear casual attire and if possible Harley Davidson shirts.
