Ruth Vivian Bullard Howe

Ruth was born May 17, 1916 at Rinard, IL to Fred and Mabel M. (Ostrander) Bullard. She married Bernice C. Howe March 5, 1938 at Dixon, KY and he preceded her in death August 21, 1985.

Ruth was a retired elementary school teacher and taught in Wayne and Clay County for 28 years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Illinois Retired Teachers Association, North Wayne Senior Citizens, Loyal Men and Women’s Class of Cisne Christian Church, and previously was a member of Eastern Star Lodge at Johnsonville, IL.

Ruth is survived by her loving family of two daughters Linda J. Welty (Mike) of Xenia, IL and Kathy L. Michels (Allen) of Cisne, IL; two sons Curtis E. Howe (Sherry) and John A. Howe (Tammy) both of Rinard, IL. Also surviving are two sisters Shirley Dowdy of E. Chicago, IL and June Greenwood (Leonard) of Effingham, IL; two brothers Ardell Bullard (Mary) of Lakewood, CO and Darrel Bullard (Linda) of Effingham, IL; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Preceding Ruth in death were four brothers, one sister, one niece, her parents and husband.

Funeral services for Ruth Howe will be 3:00PM Monday, August 22, 2011 at Hosselton Funeral Home. Burial will be at Willow Branch Cemetery at Rinard, IL. Visitation will be 5-8PM Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011.

Memorials in memory of Ruth may be given to Cisne Rehab Activity Fund, Clay County Hospice or donor’s choice and will be accepted at Hosselton Funeral Home.
