Billy Harold Wells was born in the Cleveland Community, Johnston County, NC on July 4 1937 to the late Harold Thomas and Agnes Hardee Wells. The youngest of five children, Billy experienced a childhood forged in a loving home, hard work and the attention showered upon him by his siblings.
Billy attended and graduated from Cleveland High School, where he met the love of his life, Nadine Stephenson Wells. They were married for 66 years and were blessed with two sons and four wonderful Grandchildren.
Billy made a career in the retail food brokerage industry where he routinely won several sales awards and built many lasting relationships based on his efforts to provide exceptional service, honesty, integrity, and wit. At work or play, those who spent even a minute with him know, he was quick with a joke, or that they might be subjected to one of his pranks. Aside from his sense of humor, Billy had a serious side, as evidenced by the many family members and friends, who often sought his advice and counsel. ( Also some who did not seek it, but got it anyway ) it was firm, well grounded, levelheaded, but most of all dispensed with a healthy dose of love.
Billy enjoyed sharing vegetables from his own garden, watching NASCAR and “piddlin round” the house and shop. He served as a deacon at Baptist Center Church, a former president of Clayton High School, Booster Club, and a member of Clayton Civitan. Outside of his many sales awards and accomplishments, he noted his greatest achievement was his union with Nadine.
Billy was proceeded in death by his parents; his wife, Nadine; brother, Wade; and sister, Bet. He is survived by his sons, Hal and Shane and wife, Mary; grandchildren, Molly, Ryals, Ivy, and Marina; brother Rudolph and wife, Elgie; sister, Janie; and many nieces and nephews. Left to mourn his loss and learn from his examples.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the many prayers, support and kindness provided by those who loved Billy.
