

Christopher Michael “Mike” Prevatte, age 45, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Mike was born in New Hanover County on March 9, 1981, to the late Chris Prevatte and Faye Hanchey. A native of Wallace, NC, Mike received his master’s degree in emergency management from Arizona State University.
A member of Horne Memorial UMC, Mike was an avid outdoorsman and Eagle Scout, he enjoyed mountain biking, cycling, fly fishing, hiking, golf, sailing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, competition target shooting, snowboarding and performing trail maintenance at Williamson Preserve.
Mike is survived by his wife, Beth Prevatte; a daughter, Kathleen Jane Prevatte; uncle, Steve Hanchey; sister, Jill Prevatte English and her husband, Tony; half-brother Corey Prevatte, and nieces, Kyndall English and Paige English.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his grandmothers, Kathleen Hanchey and Gladys Prevatte and grandfathers Henry Hanchey and William Prevatte.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 6:00 pm until 8:00pm at McLaurin Funeral Home. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 2:00pm at Horne Memorial United Methodist Church, Clayton.
