

Clara Woodard Canady Williams, 81, went to meet her heavenly father on March 15, 2016. Funeral service will be conducted at 3:00p.m. on Saturday, March 19th, in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Hill officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:30p.m. prior to the service. Born in Princeton, NC she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Flora Pittman Woodard and was preceded in death by her first husband, Dwight Canady, her son, Wayne “Bubba” Canady, her brothers, Bernice, Arlon, Ralph, Bobby Woodard, and sisters, Bettie Miller and Rosa Yandle. She is survived by her husband, Charles “Charlie” Williams, her sons, Ronnie Canady, of Clayton, and Joey Canady ( Jeanette) of Archer Lodge, daughter-in-law, Melinda Canady, of Clayton, step-son, Ric Williams of Winston Salem, step-daughters, Connie Bass (Mark) of Port Orange, FL, Karen Miller and Shelly McIntyre, (Bob) of Clayton. Grandchildren, include Jeremie Canady (Jennifer), A. J. Canady and Kim Barnes (Hunter), step-grandchildren, Lane Williams, Shane Bass, Justin Christmas, Hannah and Guy McIntyre. Great Grandchildren, Isabel and Olivia Canady, Donovan Williams and Spencer Christmas. Sisters, Louise Crabtree (Lawrence) of Clayton, Linda Balance (Bill) of Waverly, VA, and brother, Marvin Woodard (Iris) of Hyattsville, MD. In the early years of marriage, Clara and husband Dwight traveled to and lived in several states because of Dwight’s employment in bridge and road construction. When their children became school age they returned to Clayton. There Clara worked and retired from Beddingfield Drug Company for over 30 years of service. During this time she formed special friendships and relationships with hundreds of Clayton residents. She was a member of Powhatan Free Will Baptist Church in Clayton and had a special love for the elderly and disabled. Her love and concern was reflected in a card ministry, sending a large number of cards each week to the sick and bereaved.
