Edith W. Beasley, 91 of Redford Drive off Old Stage Rd. died on November 12, 2015. She was born in Hillsboro, NC but has resided in Wake County most of her life. She was the daughter of Arthur Wilkins and Martha Allison Wilkins of Raleigh. She was preceded in death by her infant son Sam Raymond Beasley, her parents, and her sisters Pauline Riley of Willow Springs, Frances Williams and Lou Dodd of Raleigh.
She is survived by husband James (Redford) Beasley of Raleigh, daughter Pam Galloway and husband Dave of Raleigh, grandson Joel Galloway and wife Ashley and her great granddaughter Hallie of Marbury, Alabama. Also survived by 1 sister, Mozell Coats of Garner, many nieces and nephews and a large extended family in Person and Orange Counties.
She retired after 18 years at Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh. She spent the years prior to this as a homemaker and caring for her only daughter Pam. She was a wonderful cook and always had the most beautiful garden and flowers. She always enjoyed sharing all of these with her friends and family. She became a member of Fellowship Presbyterian Church in 1941 and later Ernest Myatt Presbyterian Church. She dearly loved her friends in the Emmanuel Class. She loved to sing and shared that with a group of dear friends on a regular basis for years, She sang with a group from her church at a nearby nursing home for years also. In later years she loved to call everyone she knew on their birthday and play and sing birthday wishes to them. She was a wonderful mother, sister and grandmother. Her kindness, gentleness of spirit and family values made her so special to those who loved her. She and James spent 70 years together and loved him as much after 70 years as the day they were married. They did everything together and worked hard their entire life to always provide for their family. She loved her daughter Pam and loved her son-in- law Dave as if he were her own son. Her grandson Joel was the light of her life. He certainly has his grandmother’s heart and gentleness of spirit. She will be dearly missed by those who loved her.
