I love and miss you SO much!  Thank you for always loving me, no matter where you were or where I was, and continuing to from Above! There were two hawks perched in the backyard Friday morning.  They just hung out there together for a while.  I knew they had been sent by Uncle Sam and you.  Knowing y’all are together, where you always want to be, means everything and has brought peace this year.

Mr. Wilton ,Tiffany and Jackie I really enjoyed working with Mrs Eglia it was a pleasure meeting you all. Sorry for your loss,if I can ever do anything for you don’t hesitate to reach out to me.                              Patricia Whitfield!!!!

Sending all my love and prayers to the Parrish family. Mrs. Elgia will always have a special place in my heart. She was such a special and sweet lady.

Elgia was petite, but she was strong and brave.She was a beautiful and gracious lady her entire life. She attended a  Finishing school while in Hawaii and was very photogenic .Being blind in one eye never stopped her from reaching her goals in life. She  volunteered with all the  disaster relief programs all over the United States. She crossed the ocean as a teen by herself, so she could be with the man she loved. She loved her family just as hard and was proud to be a Parrish.  In fact, she married a Parrish boy so as not to change her last name.  We didn't get to see her often, but it was always a big event when Sam and Elgia came home for visits. Everyone would gather at Grandma's and listen to the stories they  could tell. Elgia never had any children, and that was ok with her. She had all her nieces and nephews to pamper. She was very special to me. Maybe because I was named after her. I remember as a teen, she would take my hand me downs and I thought it was so cool she wanted my clothes.
 Grandma, every Wednesday afternoon would write a letter  to keep her updated on what was happening in the Family hub back home.  It had to be stamped with an airmail stamp so she would receive it by the first of the next week. I stayed with Grandma a lot, and she did this religiously .
I know everyone has their own special memories of how her life affected yours and made you a better person for having known her.
I know for sure she is in heaven. Her Faith in the Lord was apparent with her Sunday Morning TV Worship and the reading of her Bible. She was a wonderful daughter, a loyal and devoted wife, a blessed sister,and an admired Aunt.
Today I know she is among all the ones that have gone on before her. The Parrish Cloud just received its newest Angel.

I had the privilege to work with Elgia in the late 80s and early 90s at the Alabama Department of Public Health. She was one of the kindest and friendliest people with whom I ever worked. She was always ready to help in any way possible. She was a great asset to the department. Over the years she always kept in touch.  She will be deeply missed. I am grateful for opportunity to work with her.
