Elliott Darwin Rice

He was born December 24, 1947, in Mesa County, Grand Junction, Colorado to the late William Darwin Rice and Rose May Deike Rice.

Elliott was a graduate of Grand Junction High School and University of Maryland, earning a BS degree in microbiology. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam war. After he was discharged, he spent the next 26 years working at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in the laboratory where he became the supervisor of the STAT Lab. After he retired from Walter Reed, the family moved to North Carolina to be closer to his wife’s family. He began working at Novo Nordisk and eventually retired from there in 2016.

Elliott loved to travel and especially loved hiking and enjoying the sights of nature. He enjoyed photography, fishing and golfing.

Elliott is survived by his wife, Melanie, his son Elliott Rice, Jr (Kristine) of Georgetown, DE; his son Joshua of Clayton, his daughter Jessica (Geoff) of Minnesota, and his brother Edward (Alice) of Bayside New York; his 3 granddaughters, Amberlie, Madison and Hannah, all of Georgetown, DE; his nephew Tim (Elba) in Oakland Gardens NY; his niece Teresa (Brian), in Stormville, NY; and his Mother-in-law Helen Little of Clayton, NC.
