Evelyn Harrison Vinson passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the age of 99. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am on Thursday at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Mark White officiating. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Mrs. Vinson was a retired employee of Norwich Mills where she worked for over 30 years, a member of the First Baptist Church, the DAR and the Clayton Woman’s Club where she was named Club Woman of the Year in 1987. She is survived by her husband; Turner Vinson, Jr., daughter; Frankie W. Holder and her husband Art of Clayton, son; Bruce B. Wood and his wife Diana of New Bern, grandchildren; Brent Wood and his wife Heidi, Susan Ferone and her husband Mike, David C. Holder and his wife Julie, and seven great grandchildren. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 35, Clayton, NC 27528.
